Skateboard for Asian Teenagers / 2007

While working with a group of South East Asian Teens in Providence, Rhode Island, we began creating a series of objects that could be used to initiate conversations on sensitive topics. These "skateboards" provide a unique opportunity for the group to talk about stereotypes. What happens when we make assumptions about cultures and individuals? What would happen if we designed products and experiences for people without taking the time to understand who they are and what they might believe in?
